Skyscraper Festival

This short piece was produced for the Skyscraper Festival run by HypTV. The challenge was to produce a 25 second piece that would show off the unusual 1520x288 screen dimensions of the 'Skyscaper' screen in Manchester. Trying to avoid the obvious heavy graphic angle and wanting to produce something eye catching and entertaining, GraphicQuarter came up with this idea... Crowd pleasing genres usually fall to either horror or comedy, this being a public space, horror was a no go, so we had a go at comedy. With the screen being silent, we naturally looked to the silent greats of Chaplin and alike, this is probably most evident in the speeded up footage and slap-stick movements. It's a short piece that took some time to get just right, making sure the character really felt contained within the box, but it was great fun to do.
